Cree lands are owned exclusively by the Crees, including all subsurface rights. Ownership of the waters, tidelands and seabed will remain with Canada under the terms of the Agreement.
CREE CONSULTATIONS
Under the proposed Offshore Agreement, the government will consult the Crees on issues directly affecting the EMR, including mineral exploration and construction of pipelines ands oil rigs.
INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENTS
This Offshore Agreement provides that the Crees will be involved in discussions leading to government positions on international wildlife agreements dealing with wildlife harvested in the EMR.
IMPACT REVIEW BOARD
The Eeyou Marine Region Impact Review Board (EMRIRB) mandate is to review the ecosystemic and socio-economic Impacts of Project proposals.
WILDLIFE BOARD
The Eeyou Marine Region Wildlife Board (EMRWB) mandate is to act as the main Instrument of Wildlife management and the main regulator of access to wildlife.
